Medical Doctor Support Intern

• Assist midwives and medical professionals in conducting antenatal consultations, postnatal care, and deliveries.
• Provide counseling and education to pregnant women and new mothers on maternal health, breastfeeding, newborn care, and family planning.
• Support in the provision of contraceptive methods and procedures, including counseling, insertion, and removal of contraceptive implants, intrauterine devices (IUDs), and administration of injectables.
• Assist in conducting basic newborn assessments and referring cases requiring specialized care to appropriate facilities.
• Participate in community outreach activities to promote maternal and child health services and encourage antenatal care attendance.
• Assist in the management of obstetric emergencies and complications during deliveries and provide immediate care as needed.
• Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, guidelines, and standards of care for maternal and child health services.
• Assist in the maintenance of accurate medical records and documentation related to maternal and child health activities.
• Support in the implementation of quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the clinics.
• Any other duties assigned by the Clinic Manager or Maternal Health Supervisor.

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in MD from a recognized institution.
• Valid license to practice as a MD in Afghanistan.
• Previous experience or internship in maternal and child health services preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto, with proficiency in English being an added advantage.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Marie Stopes Afghanistan.
• Ability to work in challenging and resource-limited settings.
