Flights

Who flies from Afghanistan, where to, and how to book. Two Afghan airlines carry most passengers; schedules change often, so confirm with the airline.

The airlines

  • Kam Air (kamair.com): from Kabul to Dubai, Istanbul, Ankara, Islamabad, New Delhi, Almaty, Tashkent, Dushanbe and Kuwait, among others, and to the main cities at home.
  • Ariana Afghan Airlines (flyariana.com): to Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh, Istanbul, Ankara, Moscow, Urumqi and New Delhi, among others.
  • Some Gulf airlines also fly to Kabul. Neither Afghan airline may fly to the European Union or the United States.

Inside the country

Kabul is linked with Herat, Mazar-i-Sharif, Kandahar and other airports. Flights between cities save a long and sometimes dangerous road journey: see roads and passes.

Booking

  1. Book on the airline's own website or at its office; travel agents in Kabul also sell tickets.
  2. Check whether your destination needs a visa before you pay: see visas.
  3. Arrive at Kabul airport early: security checks begin before the terminal.
