The job

The Crowd Controller / SBCC Facilitator will support ADWSO Project in ensuring the safe, orderly, respectful and efficient management of beneficiaries during Take-Home Ration (THR) and school-feeding distributions. The position will focus particularly on crowd management, beneficiary communication, awareness and appropriate interaction with schoolchildren, parents/caregivers and community members.

Unlike general daily-wage labourers engaged for loading, unloading or other manual work, this position requires individuals with appropriate communication, interpersonal, behavioural-management and community-engagement skills to help maintain an organized and safe distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the orderly movement and management of beneficiaries at THR distribution points.
  • Guide schoolchildren, parents/caregivers and other beneficiaries through the distribution process.
  • Communicate distribution procedures, schedules and relevant instructions clearly and respectfully.
  • Support appropriate interaction with schoolchildren and help maintain a safe and child-friendly environment.
  • Assist in organizing queues and preventing overcrowding, confusion or disorder at distribution locations.
  • Coordinate with school authorities, community representatives, ADWSO staff and distribution personnel.
  • Respond respectfully to routine questions and direct complaints or concerns through established mechanisms.
  • Provide basic Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) messages relevant to the school-feeding activity, as instructed.
  • Encourage beneficiaries to follow agreed distribution procedures and maintain respectful behaviour.
  • Pay particular attention to the safety, dignity and appropriate treatment of children and other vulnerable beneficiaries.
  • Immediately report protection concerns, incidents, conflicts, misconduct or other issues to the designated supervisor.
  • Apply safeguarding, child-protection, PSEA and non-discrimination principles throughout the distribution.
  • Support the distribution team in maintaining a safe, transparent and accountable environment.
  • Perform other duties directly related to crowd management and beneficiary engagement as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimun 1 year experience in community mobilization, awareness/SBCC activities, school activities, humanitarian programmes, crowd management or field operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience interacting with schoolchildren, parents, teachers and community members is an advantage.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with children and adults.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and professional in crowded or challenging situations.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding, child protection and PSEA principles is desirable.
  • Ability to work in field conditions and according to the project distribution schedule.
  • Demonstrated honesty, patience, integrity and respect for beneficiaries.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
