Passport
What your passport will cost at the official fees, the steps in the order they happen today, and what to bring.
Half fee: civil servants of grade 3 and above, officers from the rank of samunwal up, and patients going abroad for treatment with the Ministry of Public Health's approval. Free: government scholarship students, athletes sent by the sports authorities, and people with disabilities referred by the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled.
The steps
- Fill in the form onlineAt passport.moi.gov.af, with your details exactly as on your tazkira. The form shows the amount and gives you a bank slip.Online formCheck your form
- Pay at the bankWith the bank slip. Da Afghanistan Bank has a counter inside the passport directorate in Kabul.
- Go to the passport officeFor the check of your documents, your fingerprints and photo (biometrics).
- Collect the passportFrom the post office you chose on the form, or at home if you chose home delivery.
Never pay an agent for a faster passport. Pay only at the bank, against the official slip.

Before you go
The online form
- Fill in the form at passport.moi.gov.af with your details exactly as they are on your tazkira. The photo you upload must be 4 × 5 cm on a white background and under 240 KB.
- On the form you choose the province where your papers are processed and the post office where you collect the passport (or home delivery, in five provinces).
- The same site can check a submitted form: print it and take it with you.
Use only passport.moi.gov.af. Sites and agents that offer to "check" or "speed up" your form for a fee are not the passport department.
Lost or burnt passports
A new passport costs the same as a first one. For a burnt passport you need a police report; for a lost one, a published announcement inside Afghanistan, or a confirmation from the consulate abroad.
